Sculpture and Circular Economy:

Searching for coherence and constantly concerned by my environmental impact, I carve my sculptures in blocks of marble, granite and alabaster destined to be dumped. I often carve in old tombstones, forgotten stones or "waste'" blocks. Of course, this requires a very specific know-how, as these stones have suffered from time, knocks and frost... but it's an ethical, technical and aesthetic choice. #REUSE-REDUCE-RECYCLE

Black Blood under White Skin –

White Carrara marble (reused), resin - 2020

A few years ago, I worked on a slavery anthology during four years with an historian team. I knew that some day or another, this experience would result in an artwork.
Howdeeply sad to see that this issue still has topicality today. When will we recognize the real and devastating fact that African resources are still being pillaged? We started by taking their people… today we take their resources…
Is it possible that we still don’t understand the meaning of equality… Maybe equality isn’t the right word, perhaps we should use the term equivalence? Because still today, a black person isn’t always equal to a white person, a woman isn’t always equal to a man…
When will we finally assimilate that whether your skin is white, black, brown, yellow; whether you’re a man or woman; the blood flowing in our veins will always be red?
