Sculpture and Circular Economy:

Searching for coherence and constantly concerned by my environmental impact, I carve my sculptures in blocks of marble, granite and alabaster destined to be dumped. I often carve in old tombstones, forgotten stones or "waste'" blocks. Of course, this requires a very specific know-how, as these stones have suffered from time, knocks and frost... but it's an ethical, technical and aesthetic choice. # REUSE-REDUCE-RECYCLE

SECOND WAVE… IN CHAOTIC LANDS –

LOUISE BLUE QUARTZITE (BRAZIL, reused), RESIN AND GOLD LEAF - 2020

A first wave that pushes us away, a second one that bristles our hair, nevertheless the beauty persists.
I made this sculpture in the secrecy of my workshop during the second semi-confinement.
She retraces the emotions I felt during this period but not only during this period. Emotion is my creative motor, and its presence is always undeniable in me. Loneliness, fear, hope, extreme lassitude, desire for change, feeling of injustice, joy, the impossibility of projecting oneself, feeling that you are walking eyes bonded, waiting for something to change.
Doesn’t the artist have an important role during eventful times? A life without art, a life without music, a life without culture, is a flavourless life. Again and again we need to reinvent ourselves.
